BiRacial History Project

Early Edgewood–Candler Park
BiRacial History Project

The Early Edgewood-Candler Park BiRacial History Project—founded by interested neighborhood residents and supported by them, various grants, and CPNO—aims to increase awareness of African American history in Candler Park, research this history with others including descendant families, and place interpretative Legacy Markers at key African American sites in the neighborhood.

The Old Stone church (above) was hand-built by Antioch East Baptist Church members, 1918 to 1922. The drawing is by Bill Nichols. To learn more, visit their web site.
